More Actors Join the Upcoming Show in the West End Alongside Already-Announced Marc Warren

Earlier this month the West End lost one of its most high profile musicals when “Dirty Dancing” closed its doors after almost five years at the Aldwych Theatre. The follow-up production was announced then recently in the form of “Cool Hand Luke” – best known as a movie starring Paul Newman – with Marc Warren in the lead role. But there is still items to learn about the show and today it returns to the news with further casting announcements - Lee Boardman and Lisa Eichhorn.

Boardman is an actor who has appeared in various film and television programmes and is also well known for providing narrations to various other shows. His film credits include “Fated” from 2006, whilst his television acting roles include “Coronation Street”, for which he is remembered as the drug dealer Jez Quigley, “Rome”, for which he portrayed Timon, and shows like “Dalziel and Pascoe”. His narrating credits include “World’s Most Amazing Videos 2”, “Road Wars” and “Street Wars”.

He will be heading to the stage of the London theatre in the role of Dragline, a fellow convict alongside Warren’s Luke.

Lisa Eichhorn, meanwhile, has amassed a range of credits during her career, with various well known movies, television shows and theatrical productions to her name. Recent credits include “Midsomer Murders”, “Cracker”, “Jericho”, “Law & Order” and “Law & Order: Criminal Intent”, though previous decades had seen her appear in the movie Yanks” and “A Modern Affair”, among others. For the stage her credits include this year’s “The Exonerated” at the Charing Cross Theatre and “Enduring Freedom” at the Finborough Theatre.

Best known as the mentioned movie starring Paul Newman, “Cool hand Luke” takes audiences back in time and focuses on a veteran of the Second World War who has become a rebel and thusly thrown in prison. Inside the guards want to break him but they soon discover how hard this is with a man like Luke.

The production follows up “Dirty Dancing” at the Aldwych Theatre and itself will be following by “Midnight Tango” in the New Year.

“Cool Hand Luke” runs at the Aldwych Theatre from Monday 3rd October 2011 (previews from Friday 23 September 2011) to Saturday 7th January 2012.
