Limited number of The Cherry Orchard tickets on sale

Wednesday, 22nd Dec 2010

Theatregoers looking for The Cherry Orchard tickets have only a few performances to choose from.

Held at the Noel Coward Theatre, the play is strictly limited to two performances as part of a series of shows performed by Russia's prestigious Sovremennik Theatre.

Performed in their original Russian with English surtitles, the play tells the story of Madame Ranevskaya who returns to her aristocratic family home with fond memories of the cherry orchard.

However, the family have run into difficulties and their only hope is to sell off her beloved cherry orchard, resulting in uncertainty over the future.

Set to open on January 28th 2011, the Galina Volchek-directed production will also be held on January 29th, with both shows beginning at 19:00 GMT.

The other plays set to be performed in this strictly limited run of shows in London are Three Sisters - another of Chekov's classics - and an adaptation of Eugenia Ginzburg's memoir Into The Whirlwind.
