Lizzie Roper Replaces Ellen Greene in Betwixt at Trafalgar Studios

Monday, 15th Aug 2011

The Comic Actor is Set to Appear in the Show from 22nd August 2011

“Betwixt!” opened its doors at Trafalgar Studios 2 last month and has been in the news regularly ever since it was first announced back in May. However, its latest venture into the spotlight regards the casting of Ellen Greene in the multiple roles of The Princess, the Enchantress and the Nymph Queen. It turns out that she will not be able to complete the run now that the show has announced extension to September and as a result Lizzie Roper will be replacing her for the added dates.

Lizzie Roper is an actress and comedian who has a range of credits to her name, including previous appearances in shows at the Trafalgar Studios. Her credits include “The Biting Point” at Theatre503, “August: Osage County” at the Lyttelton National Theatre (understudy), “One Flew Over the Cucko’s Nest” at the Gielgud Theatre and “Peccadillo Circus” at the Trafalgar Studios. She has also appeared in a wealth of shows at the annual Edinburgh Festival Fringe, in addition to television credits like “Shameless”, “Waterloo Road”, “Holby City” and “Harry and Paul”.

“Betwixt!” by Ian MacFarlane is an unusual story set in modern day New York and also features Benedict Salter and Steven Webb as Bailey and Cooper Fitzgerald respectively, the former being struggling writer and the latter his flamboyant roommate.  Their arrival in the city corresponds with a prophecy they discover concerning a courageous hero and a great queen, so they must set off on a quest to find a daytime television star with a range of colourful characters and scenarios along the way.

The cast also includes Peter Duncan in the multiple roles of Prince Haydn, The Great Garbo and Haydn Prince, with Ashleigh Gray as Miranda.

The production opened its doors at the end of July and proved popular enough to warrant an extension. The show is followed at Trafalgar Studios 2 with “When Did You Last See My Mother?” from September and “Salt, Root and Roe” from November. Meanwhile, “Top Girls” is still running at Trafalgar Studios 1.

“Betwixt!” remains at Trafalgar Studios 2 until Saturday 10th September 2011. Lizzie Roper takes on her roles from Monday 22nd August 2011.
