9 to 5 the Musical - Savoy Theatre

Having already appeared in front of audience around the world, London’s West End will be getting the Dolly Parton treatment soon as 9 to 5 the Musical heads to the Savoy Theatre on the Strand. Featuring an all-star cast that includes Louise Redknapp and the iconic score penned by Parton itself, it is bound to be a much talked-about production when it opens.

Redknapp stars alongside Natalie McQueen, Amber Davies and Brian Conley in the show, ensuring plenty of familiar faces.

9 To 5 tells the story of Doralee, Violet and Judy, three characters that are about to go through a life-changing experience when they take their boss’s appalling behaviour into their own hands.

He is a sexist and deceitful bigot, so they apprehend the man and decide to run the company themselves. Along the way theatregoers hear songs like the iconic 9 To 5 as well as other songs penned for the show by Parton like Heart To Hart, Backwoods Barbie and Here For You, amongst others.

9 To 5 first emerged in 2008 and is based on the film of the same name from 1980. Since then it has been seen at numerous locations, from Manchester to Edinburgh and from Broadway to Los Angeles, and now takes up shop in the West End. It is set to run at the Savoy Theatre, which is the current home of Dreamgirls until January 2019. It was announced back in June that the latter would not be extending beyond January, making the Savoy stage available for the popular 9 To 5 to replace it.

That popularity is sure to be boosted by the well known cast members. Louise Redknapp, for example, is best known for her career in the pop charts in the 1990s both as a member of Eternal and as a solo singer releasing singles like Arms Around The World and albums like Woman In Me. In the years since those days she has also presented shows like SM:TV Live and appeared on Strictly Come Dancing.

After sustaining an injury, Louise Redknapp will make her West End debut in 9 to 5 at the Savoy Theatre on 25th March 2019, where she will continue in the role to 29th June 2019.
