Love Story to move to West End theatres

Friday, 16th Jul 2010

Love Story, a play based on the film of the same name, is to make its debut in West End theatres at the end of the year.

The show's stars Emma Williams and Michael Xavier have already picked up great reviews for their performances and theatre veteran Michael Ball is helping to back the production.

Love Story follows poor girl Jenny who attends Harvard University where she falls in love with affluent hockey player Oliver, although the sad ending will ensure there is not a dry eye in the house.

He told Baz Bamigboye in the Daily Mail that he saw it during its run at Chichester's Minerva Theatre and wanted to see it transfer to the West End.

Ball said to the columnist that he was so confident that the musical will be a big hit with the audience that he has put his own money into it, marking his first time as a show producer rather than performer.

The show is estimated to open in late November, although no theatre has been confirmed yet.
