New Cast Members Join the Hit ABBA Musical in the West End from June

There are some changes on the way for the hit musical Mamma Mia! at the Novello Theatre as new cast members are announced from June 2015. They will join a production that has been one of the most talked-about in the West End since it opened in 1999, spawning international versions and a 2008 film, and they also join the likes of Dianne Pilkington and Alasdair Harvey, who continue with the show.

Mazz Murray is amongst the new names as she takes on the role of Tanya. She is announced alongside Gabriella Williams, James Darch, Jo Napthine, Louise Young, Stephanie Fearon, Rory Phelan and Dan Partirdge.

Mamma Mia! is the famous story of a mother, Donna, and daughter, Sophie, living on a Greek Island, where Sophie is soon to walk down the aisle. Everything seems great for her as she prepares to marry Sky, but there’s something missing – her father. She doesn’t know his identity but would do anything for him to walk her down the aisle, so she finds her mother’s diary, narrows down the candidates to three men and promptly invites all three, causing Donna great distress!

Along the way we hear renditions of hit songs from ABBA like the title track, Dancing Queen, Thank You For The Music, Money Money Money, Gimme Gimme Gimme and I Have A Dream, amongst others.

Mazz Murray has appeared in a wealth of west end shows over the years, including the hit We Will Rock You, which closed its doors at the Dominion Theatre in 2014 after 12 years at the venue. Her other credits include Rent on a UK tour, plus television shows like EastEnders, Blessed, Footballers’ Wives, The Bill and The Man From Auntie, plus many others.

Mamma Mia! is one of the most famous jukebox musicals in town, though it is also joined in the capital by Michael Jackson celebration Thriller Live, The Kinks’ musical Sunny Afternoon and the upcoming Green Day musical American Idiot at the Arts Theatre.

Mamma Mia! continues at the Novello Theatre, with the new cast joining from 8th June 2015.
