Nadal 'can win US Open'
According to tennis legend John McEnroe, the Spanish star is desperate to win the competition as he has never done so before.
Speaking to the ATP Champions Tour website, McEnroe said Nadal is in great shape both physically and mentally and is therefore capable of going all the way.
However, he stated that British number one Andy Murray is likely to play well as he is very good on hard courts.
"I think at some point he'll get some luck and be able to pull a Grand Slam out of the bag," McEnroe said.
He added that Murray simply has to stay strong mentally and realise that his time will eventually come.
McEnroe is well qualified to tip players for the US Open, having won the competition himself four times between 1979 and 1984.
