New Wizard of Oz star wants drama school place

Thursday, 27th May 2010

Danielle Hope, winner of BBC's Over the Rainbow show, has pledged to audition for a place in drama school once she finishes her run as Dorothy.

The 18-year-old won her place in Andrew Lloyd Webber's production of The Wizard of Oz, which starts next year in London, in the final on Saturday night.

After that, the young star plans to go back and get formal training in musical theatre, The Stage reports.

She had been studying for her entrance exams prior to her appearance on the hit BBC talent show.

"I don't think you can ever have enough training and it makes you really employable. Also, with training, it means you have been through the same experience as all the performers in the West End," Hope said.

In addition, she suggested she would like to take part in another show before her big debut next year, so she can build up her experience.

Hope told the Daily Mirror earlier this week that she was so shy at school that she would do anything to avoid being in the spotlight.
