More Cast Members Join Kate Fleetwood and Others in the Upcoming Revival at the Old Vic Theatre

Back in November audiences first heard the news that stage version of High Society, the famous Cole Porter musical film that starred Frank Sinatra among the big names, would be headed to the Old Vic Theatre under the direction of the well known Maria Friedman. The show will be the latest revival of the 1990s stage version of the classic story and it was later announced that Kate Fleetwood would be among the names taking to the stage.

Now more cast members have joined the production, with Richard Grieve announced alongside Jeff Rawle, Ricky Butt, Christopher Ravenscroft and Paul Kemble.

As well as Fleetwood, the show also boasts previously revealed cast members like Jamie Parker, Rupert Young, Anabel Scholey, Barbara Flynn and Ellie Bamber.

The lead character of High Society is Tracy Lord (Fleetwood), a woman in high demand as many suitors are on her tale with her wedding looming over the horizon. The ceremony is getting closer but it is clear that it is not just her fiancé that is hoping to tie the knot with her. There’s also her ex-husband, a jazz musician, who hopes to win her back, and the other is an undercover reporter who was just trying to write a story about the nuptials and instead falls in love.

Richard Grieve has appeared in various soaps during his career, whilst also making a name for himself with his stage career. London theatre audiences may recognise him from his touring productions of both Footloose and Priscilla: Queen Of The Desert, though he has also enjoyed a screen career with Emmerdale, Neighbours and Home And Away. As such he will be one of many familiar faces when he takes to the stage of the Old Vic Theatre in the summer.

High Society isn’t the only musical making a return to the capital this year. Other examples include Gypsy at the Savoy Theatre, which opens in April, and they join a host of other shows that are already playing in London’s theatres.

High Society is at the Old Vic Theatre from Thursday 14th May 2015 (previews from Thursday 30th April 2015).
