The Mamma Mia Star to Transfer to Judy Craymer’s Other Production in the West End in November 2012

Following on from the news that Helen Hobson will be taking on the role of Donna Sheridan in “Mamma Mia!” comes the further news that Sally Ann Triplett – that show’s current Donna – will be appearing in “Viva Forever!” at the Piccadilly Theatre. It means that the performer will be making the transition to another of producer Judy Craymer’s shows in the West End.

Sally Ann Triplett has enjoyed a long career in the West End so theatregoers that are already familiar with her work will no doubt rejoice in the word that they will have another opportunity to see her onstage once they’ve purchased theatre tickets. In addition to “Mamma Mia!” at the Prince of Wales Theatre, Triplett’s other credits include “Cats” at the New London theatre, “Guys and Dolls” at the Dominion Theatre and “Chicago” at the Adelphi Theatre. Prior to these stage performances she also shot to fame as she represented the UK in the Eurovision Song Contest on two occasions in the early 80s.

“Viva Forever” is the highly anticipated Spice Girls musical that, in many ways, is a follow up to Craymer’s “Mamma Mia!” as it shares certain similarities in their conception. Both feature an original story (with “Viva Forever!” being penned by Jennifer Saunders) and both feature musical numbers originally made famous by a well known pop group (with “Mamma Mia!” featuring the music of ABBA). “Viva Forever!” has also been the subject of rumours for many years so anticipation has been going on for some time.

The story is said to feature themes such as love and friendship with a television talent show skyrocketing the main character to fame alongside her friends. This beautiful young girl is suddenly in the spotlight as a famous singer and whilst some are there to share the glory, there’s also the question of the friends and family members she is leaving behind.

Following the closure of “Ghost The Musical” shortly, “Viva Forever!” opens at the Piccadilly Theatre on Tuesday 11th December 2012 (with previews from Tuesday 27th November 2012) and its initial booking period then takes it to Saturday 1st June 2012.
