Sharon D Clarke to star in Death of a Salesman

The full cast for the upcoming production of Death of a Salesman at the Young Vic has been announced.

Written by Arthur Miller, Death of a Salesman tells the story of Willy Loman, an elderly American citizen approaching retirement who has worked hard all his life. When he returns from a business trip to see his adult sons still living in the family home, Loman reflects on his life and the decisions that he has made.

Sharon D Clarke will play the role of Linda, Willy’s wife. Currently starring in Caroline, or Change as Caroline Thibodeaux, Clarke has starred in many West End shows including an Olivier Award-winning performance in The Amen Corner at the National Theatre and Porgy and Bess at Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre.

Wendell Pierce will make his West End stage debut in the central role of Willy Loman. Star of American television series including The Wire and Suits, Pierce’s US theatre credits include Cost of Living, The Piano Lesson and The Cherry Orchard, also winning a Tony Award as best producer for Clybourne Park.

The cast is completed by Ian Bonar, Trevor Cooper, Martins Imhangbe, Arinzé Kene, Joseph Mydell Nenda Neurer, Jennifer Saayeng, Matthew Seadon-Young and Maggie Service.

Death of a Salesman will open at the Young Vic on 1st May.

Tickets for Death of a Salesman are not yet on sale.
