Shrek The Musical comes to London

Monday, 5th Jul 2010

Shrek The Musical is to move across the Atlantic to the West End, it has been confirmed.

The production ran for over a year in the US and is now transferring to the Theatre Royal on Drury Lane.

Tickets are bound to be snapped up by fans of the film franchise, which has been hugely successful over the last decade.

Mike Myers gave his voice to the eponymous character, while other big names to take part included Cameron Diaz and John Lithgow.

The success of the DreamWorks movie led to a string of follow-ups, including the recently-released Shrek Forever After.

It also spawned successful video games and a lucrative toy and merchandise market, as well as the stage show.

No news on the cast has yet been released, although it is understood that Shrek The Musical will open in the West End in May next year.

The show will be choreographed by Josh Prince and the music has been written by Jeanine Tesori.
