Simone & Cacace in The Last Tango at the Phoenix Theatre

Wednesday, 17th Aug 2016

It was recently reported that the current production entertaining the crowds at the Phoenix Theatre, Guys and Dolls, would be closing its doors early this month when its star Rebel Wilson steps down from the role of Miss Adelaide.

Now we get word on the production set to take its place. The Last Tango, the final show from Midnight Tango stars Vincent Simone and Flavia Cacace will play at the venue from September, remaining there until December.

As with their other shows, Simone and Cacace’s The Last Tango also has with it a compelling story and one that deals with memories and looking back at the past as the character of George looks through his old possessions and takes a trip back in time. Against this backdrop we will witness performances of some amazing dance routines, naturally ranging from the tango to other forms like Salsa, leaving audiences aching for more.

This was the response to previous shows like Midnight Tango and Dance ‘Til Dawn and there’s no reason to suggest that this won’t be the case for The Last Tango.

After all, the years have made clear that tango fans are in safe hands when it comes to the work of Vincent Simone and Flavia Cacace. Not only have they earned several world class awards, they have also been brought to the attention of audiences nationwide thanks to their work on Strictly Come Dancing. Together they earned the titles of UK Ballroom Champions on various occasions, as well as winning the UK Professional Ten Dance as well, making them some of the most admired dancers in the country.

On Strictly Come Dancing they were individually paired with numerous partners between 2006 and 2012, providing some memorable moments for the popular BBC series. Such appearances raised their profile further and allowed them to flourish with these west end shows.

And now their latest appears at the Phoenix Theatre hot on the heels of Guys And Dolls. It runs at the West End venue under the direction of Karen Bruce from September 2016.
