Spider-man musical opening date announced

Thursday, 12th Aug 2010

Spider-man fans who are awaiting news of its opening need wait no more at it has been announced by its producer.

Entitled Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark, the show, which is set to feature original songs written by U2 vocalist Bono and guitarist The Edge, will open to the public on December 21st 2010 at the Foxwoods Theatre in New York.

It will be previewed on November 14th, giving some lucky audience members the first opportunity to see its $50 million (£31.9 million) sets, which will feature skyscrapers.

Actor Reeve Carney has been cast in the title role despite being relatively unknown, with Evan Rachel Wood performing opposite him in the part of Mary Jane Watson.

Originally set to begin during February, the production had run into financial problems which forced back the opening. Until recently the venue staging the production had been known as the Hilton Theatre and Spider-Man will be the first show performed there since January 2009.
