Swan Lake ballerina draws praise

Monday, 14th Jun 2010
Swan Lake tickets might prove popular with ballet fans after a critic singled out one of the dancers for praise.

According to Zoe Anderson of the Independent, Russian-born Vadim Muntagirov has established himself as something of a boy wonder in the ballet world.

The 20-year-old was described as a slender and boyish dancer who uses all his strength to lift his partner Daria Klimentova.

However, Ms Anderson noted that he is gradually getting stronger and seems to have a good instinct for ballet.

She added that Muntagirov's performance was particularly good considering Klimentova came in as a last-minute replacement for another dancer.

"He gave a performance that showed what the fuss is about," Ms Anderson said.

Swan Lake is perhaps the most famous ballet in the world and has been delighting audiences for centuries.

The Guardian also rated this latest version highly, describing it as a big and entertaining spectacle.

Reviewer Judith Mackrell added that Muntagirov is clearly a remarkably talented ballet dancer.
