Samantha Spiro Also Appearing in Amelia Bullmore’s Acclaimed Show as it Transfers to the West End

Back in 2011 audiences were first treated to Amelia Bullmore’s Di and Viv and Rose at the Hampstead Downstairs, which later transferred to the main stage of the Hampstead Theatre in 2013. Now it has been revealed that Tamzin Outhwaite will reprise her role as Di in the production as it heads to the West End’s Vaudeville Theatre.

She will be joined by new cast members Jenna Russell and Samantha Spiro, who play Rose and Viv respectively, whilst Anna Mackmin directs.

Di And Viv And Rose follows three women – those of the title – who meet at the age of eighteen whilst at university. This friendship has an impact on their lives going forward, shaping their way as their lives also have an effect on their friendship.

The Hampstead Theatre has had great success in recent years. It is a venue located in Swiss Cottage that develops new work and has been responsible for staging new works by some well known writers working in the United Kingdom. It was also the original home of Kinks musical Sunny Afternoon prior to its transfer to the Harold Pinter Theatre (it begins its run there in October).

Tamzin Outhwaite is a well known actress whose best remembered work is perhaps in the television series EastEnders, in which she portrayed Melanie Owen until 2002. However, she has amassed a great many theatre credits over the years including Breeders at the St James Theatre, Sweet Charity at the Menier Chocolate Factory and Boeing Boeing at the Comedy Theatre (now the Harold Pinter Theatre). In addition to those she has also appeared onscreen in the likes of New Tricks, Hotel Babylon, Silent Witness, The Fixer, Paradox, Doctor Who and the film version of Great Expectations.

Meanwhile, Jenna Russell can also soon be seen in the West End in the Apollo Theatre transfer of Urinetown the Musical, which opens at the end of September. Her other credits include Merrily We Roll Along at the Harold Pinter Theatre, Into The Woods at the Open Air Theatre and Sunday In The Park With George on Broadway.

Di And Viv And Rose is at the Vaudeville Theatre from Thursday 29th January 2015 (previews from Thursday 22nd January 2015) to Saturday 23rd May 2015. Tamzin Outhwaite portrays Di until late March.
