Bat Out of Hell The Musical - London Coliseum

Once again we turn our attentions to the future of some of those shows on offer within the capital, with The Girls announcing its closure this July and Bat Out of Hell The Musical revealing a two week extension that takes it to early August.

The Girls, of course, is already running in the West End, having opened at the Phoenix Theatre earlier in the year, whilst Bat Out Of Hell – The Musical is set to open at the London Coliseum this month.

The former show, from Gary Barlow and Tim Firth, is a musical version of the Calendar Girls story, telling the tale of Women’s Institute members as they raise money for a local hospital by posing nude in a calendar. The real life tale became worldwide news back in the late 1990s and was also a 2003 film starring Helen Mirren, amongst others.

This production features performers like Debbie Chazen, Joanna Riding and Sophie-Louise Dann, to name but a few, and continues at its home of the Phoenix Theatre. The production will now close on Saturday 15th July 2017 before heading out on a tour of the United Kingdom from 2018.

Bat Out Of Hell, meanwhile, doesn’t even need to begin performances before new dates are added to its run at the London Coliseum. The stage musical version of Meatloaf’s album of the same name is highly anticipated, particularly as it has one of the biggest albums of all time as its jumping-off point.

The musical is the work of Jim Steinman, who also worked with Meatloaf on the albums Bat Out Of Hell and Bat Out Of Hell II: Back Into Hell (there was also a third, Bat Out Of Hell III: The Monster Is Loose without Steinman’s involvement). These albums provide songs and ideas for the show, whilst also ensuring plenty of Meatloaf fans in attendance in the West End.

Thanks to the new two-week extension, Bat Out Of Hell – The Musical is now booking at the London Coliseum from Tuesday 20th June 2017 (previews from Monday 5th June 2017) to Saturday 5th August 2017.
