Tim Burgess 'records Christmas single'

Thursday, 21st Oct 2010

Tim Burgess of The Charlatans could be the unlikely holder of this year's Christmas number one single.

The singer told NME that he has recorded a song with Ladyhawke that he thinks sounds like the perfect festive track.

Entitled Just One Kiss, the song is set to be included on an album of collaborations he has been working on with Steffan Halperin of The Klaxons and Josh Hayward from The Horrors.

"It sounds like a Christmas number one, it has to come out soon," Burgess told the music publication.

"It's great, it's really good, it has a sort of [Phil] Spector-ish, Ronettes kind of feel to it."

The performer added that there could be another guest appearing on the as-yet unnamed record, as he is still waiting to hear back from My Bloody Valentine's Kevin Shields.

Fans of The Charlatans have a few more chances to catch them live on the UK leg of their current tour, with dates remaining in Norwich, Birmingham and London.
