Oliver Tompsett and Rachael Wooding Cast in the Long Running Musical in the West End from October 2012

It has been a while since the high profile show has been in the news, with new productions like “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” and “A Chorus Line” getting all the attention. However, it has recently been announced that new cast members would be joining the long-running “We Will Rock You”, which is currently in its eleventh year at the Dominion Theatre, and they are set to take on high profile roles from October 2012, meaning that they will join current cast members like Brenda Edwards, Rachel John, Kevin Kennedy, Alisdair Harvey and Wayne Robinson.

The new cast members, playing Scaramouche and Galileo respectively, are Oliver Tompsett and Rachael Wooding.

“We Will Rock You” is a musical that takes its cues from the rock band Queen, but instead of a tale of their rise to fame – like the story of “Jersey Boys” – the focus is 300 years in the future, where an original tale plays out with references and homages to the famous band. In this dystopian future the world is now called Planet Mall and it is controlled by the Globalsoft Corporation, which itself is led by the tyrant Killer Queen. But all is not lost as a band of freedom fighters known as the Bohemians will return to the world to the golden age of the rhapsody.

Oliver Tompsett is well known for appearing in numerous other West End musicals, with “Wicked” at the Apollo Victoria Theatre (playing Fiyero) among his best known. He was also recently seen in the role of Drew in “Rock Of Ages” at the Shaftesbury Theatre, whilst other credits include “Mamma Mia!” at the Prince of Wales Theatre and “The Royal Hunt for the Sun” at the National Theatre.

Meanwhile, Rachael Wooding has also accumulated various credits over the years, with previous roles in “We Will Rock You” among them. She has also appeared in the mentioned “Jersey Boys”, “Hairspray the Musical” at the Shaftesbury Theatre and “Saturday Night Fever” at the Apollo Victoria Theatre and various UK touring productions.

The new cast members take on their respective roles on 8th October 2012. Meanwhile, “We Will Rock You” is currently booking at the Dominion Theatre until Saturday 23rd March 2013.
