Tony Christie finds way to London theatre

Tuesday, 29th Jun 2010

Dreamboats and Petticoats tickets might be in high demand after it was announced Tony Christie would be appearing in the show.

The singing legend, whose hits include Is This The Way to Amarillo, will join the cast from next month as Bobby and Phil.

Christie revealed that he watched the opening night of the musical in London last year and loved the story.

"As soon as I saw it, I've been searching for a gap in my diary to join the show," he commented.

Christie added that the music in Dreamboats and Petticoats is "incredible".

Indeed, he revealed that he grew up listening to the likes of Marty Wilde, Roy Orbison, The Platters and Phil Spector.

Among the songs theatergoers can enjoy are Let's Dance, C'mon Everybody, Let's Twist Again and Shakin' All Over.

Christie might also work in his biggest hit, which was later reworked as Is This The Way to the World Cup in 2006 for the England football team.
