Updates for The King And I, Everybody’s Talking About Jamies and Wicked

Tuesday, 23rd Jan 2018

Once again we turn our attentions to numerous west end shows that have proven popular enough to add new dates, with one production yet to open in the capital and two others that have already amassed fans at their respective homes.

The yet-to-open production is The King and I, coming soon to the London Palladium, and that has extended to September 2018, whilst Everybody’s Talking About Jamie and Wicked extend to October 2018 and May 2019 respectively.

The King And I will open at the London Palladium in June so its extension is a reflection of the great anticipation felt around Theatreland for the return of the classic Rodgers and Hammerstein musical. It is set to star Ken Watanabe as the King and Kelli O’Hara as Anna, alongside Ruthei Ann Miles, who will be playing the part of Lady Thiang.

The character of Anna is a British school teacher in The King And I and she is employed by the King of Siam to bring his country into the modern world, with their relationship explored as some iconic songs are performed. Those musical numbers include I Have Dreamed, Hello Young Lovers and We Kiss In A Shadow, amongst others.
The King And I opens at the London Palladium on Thursday 21st June 2018 and is now booking to Saturday 8th September 2018.

Meanwhile, Everybody’s Talking About Jamie opened in November at the Apollo Theatre and it has attracted a lot of attention. The musical, which tells an uplifting story about teenager Jamie, stars John McCrea as the title character and is directed by Jonathan Butterell. It is based on a BBC documentary entitled Jamie: Drag Queen At 16.

It is now booking at the Apollo Theatre for performances up to Saturday 6th October 2018.

Finally, the ongoing show Wicked has extended on multiple occasions since it opened at the Apollo Victoria Theatre back in 2006 and its latest ensures it remains in the West End for the foreseeable future. It is now booking at its West End home for performances up to Thursday 24th May 2019.
