Come celebrate a special milestone with The Australian Shakespeare Company, as this year marks the 40th Anniversary of Glenn Elston's adaptation of The Wind in the Willows. Join Ratty, Mole, Badger, Otter, Portly, and, of course, the arrogant, and hilarious Mr Toad on a rollicking yet gentle adventure as they get up to some riverbank mischief. With laughs and surprises for children and adults, this is interactive theatre at its best.
Set against the magical backdrop of the lake, this critically acclaimed outdoor production is filled with colourful characters, music, songs, and laughter. Young audience members are invited to join the fun as the Head Chief Rabbit transforms them into rabbits with a waggle of the ears and a wiggle of the nose, before they take part in the riverbank adventure, full of laughs and surprises along the way.
For 40 years, Glenn Elston's beloved adaptation of The Wind in the Willows has enchanted audiences of all ages, and has become a treasured family tradition enjoyed by multiple generations. Parents who once laughed alongside Ratty, Mole, Badger, and Mr Toad now return with their own children and grandchildren to share in the magic of this timeless outdoor theatre experience.
The Wind in the Willows enduring appeal has also delighted critics, as Time Out says “There are singalong songs and participation aplenty in this panto-style comedy, so even the smallest theatregoers will be enraptured.”
Best of all, each theatre ticket include access to Kew Gardens, so audiences can enjoy an idyllic day exploring Kew’s 320 acres of iconic glasshouses and spectacular seasonal displays followed by a theatrical production in the sunshine.
Pack a picnic, pack the kids, and join the fun this summer at Kew Gardens!
