About Backstairs Billy

Can’t get enough of The Crown? Here’s a right royal treat: Penelope Wilton (Downton Abbey) and Luke Evans (Beauty and the Beast) star as the Queen Mother and her Page of the Backstairs William "Billy" Tallon in Marcelo Dos Santos’s delightful new comedy Backstairs Billy. Book The Crown tickets on Box Office, and secure your appointment with royalty.

It’s 1979, and Margaret Thatcher is prime minister. The country is on the brink of huge social change — but the Queen Mother is blissfully cocooned in Clarence House with her usual routine of corgis and champagne, managed by her loyal servant and confidant Billy. But not even the most pampered royal can remain oblivious to what’s going on beyond the palace walls. Is she out of date in this strange new world?

Indulge in a good royal gossip with this delightful double act. Beautifully staged by Tony and Olivier Award-winning director Michael Grandage, The Crown combines humour and heart with a joyfully subversive streak. Just mind the corgis! Book tickets to Backstairs Billy in London now.

Joyful, Great writing, Great acting, Entertaining, Delightful

See it if You want a joyful, funny play that's easy to watch, has 2 brilliant leading actors (and has a bit of crude humour!)

Don’t see it if You're not interested in the royal family, or you're easily offended. It's set in the 70s so the language used reflects this.
