About We’re Gonna Kill Billy

'Not that we’re actually gonna kill him though.'

Four teenage girls want to stop a billionaire building a marina that will destroy local wildlife.

Step one: kidnap his grandson.

Step two: revolution.

Part comedy, part eco-thriller, We’re Gonna Kill Billy is Alex Medland’s professional debut and winner of the Concord Theatricals Unpublished Playwright Award. Directed by Royal Court Associate Director and Olivier Award nominee Aneesha Srinivasan (Godot’s To-Do List).

Supported by the Concord Theatricals Unpublished Playwrights Award. This play was originally featured in the Open Submissions Festival, in partnership with Character 7.

We're Gonna Kill Billy is supported by a partnership between Royal Court Theatre, ReStage and NT Green Store, collaborating to create a circular production with sustainability at its core through reusing sets, props and costumes from existing stock networks, and ensuring all elements have a future life following the final performance. The show will provide a case study for ReStage, providing impact reports for the national sector and a global audience.
