The stage adaptation of Hayao Miyazaki’s beloved Japanese animation film brings the Totoro magic to life. The story follows two young sisters, Satsuki and Mei, who move to the countryside with their father to be closer to their hospitalised mother.
As they explore their new surroundings, they encounter Totoro, a forest spirit, as well as an array of delightful and mystical creatures. Through their adventures, the sisters learn about the importance of family, friendship, and the wonders of nature.
My Neighbour Totoro in London captures the imaginative spirit of the original film, thanks to Tom Morton-Smith's heartfelt adaptation, Jim Henson’s Creature Shop’s enchanting puppetry, and Tom Pye's breathtaking visuals. London Theatre praised the “theatre magic” and declared the play a hit. For a second year, you’ll be able to find your spirit once more, as the inspiring play goes back to the Barbican.
The My Neighbour Totoro play is for everyone. Whether you’re introducing new audiences to the Studio Ghibli charm, or you’re wanting to revisit the much-adored story, everyone will be transported to a world of wonder and imagination.
